Eels secure Titans outside back on a long-term contract.
Parramatta Eels faced a significant gap in their strong backline after Zac Lomax left the club in the offseason, but they acted quickly to address the star’s departure.
On Monday, the club confirmed the signing of experienced outside back Brian Kelly on a two-year contract, keeping him at the club until the end of the 2027 NRL season.

Kelly arrives at Parramatta after receiving an early release from the final year of his contract with the Gold Coast Titans, bringing 190 NRL games of experience to the Eels’ backline.
The 29-year-old has been seen as a crucial signing as Parramatta aims to bolster their outside backs for 2026, with the versatile centre able to cover multiple roles across the back five.
Eels General Manager of Football Mark O’Neill said Kelly’s experience and attacking skills were key factors in the club’s decision to act early.
“We had a chance to strengthen our outside backs, which was a positional area of need, and Brian certainly meets that need very well for us,” O’Neill said in a club statement.
“Jason and the coaching staff are excited to work with Brian, who brings an added attacking threat to our game.
“With close to 200 NRL games under his belt, Brian’s experience will be a significant asset to the wider squad.”
Kelly joins Parramatta after seven seasons with the Titans, where he played 143 games following his move north in 2019, having started his NRL career with the Manly Sea Eagles.
In addition to his on-field contributions, Kelly has represented Country NSW, the Prime Minister’s XIII, and the Indigenous All Stars, and is highly regarded for his leadership and community involvement.
The Eels will now focus on integrating Kelly into the squad as preparations intensify for the 2026 season, with the seasoned back expected to bring immediate depth, stability, and professionalism across the field.
