BREAKING NEWS: On two of his acquisitions, Michael Beale reveals that the Rangers covered the transfer fees.
Michael Beale, who also verified the amount paid for Nicolas Raskin, asserted that Rangers did not pay any money for Todd Cantwell. The former Ibrox manager has been reflecting on his time at the club and the areas where things went wrong during an interview. As we previously reported, he asserted that he was unaware of the club’s finances when he accepted the manager position and made a subtle jab at the board.
He disclosed the amounts paid for Cantwell and Raskin in the same interview. Six months before his contract expired, in January 2023, the English midfield player joined with Norwich, therefore it was expected that a fee would have been paid. Though only £800,000 was paid on Raskin, Beale claims it was a “completely free transfer”.
The Englishman spoke on the Mindset For Sport podcast: “We brought in Nicolas Raskin throughout the winter. A youthful Belgium international for U21 We purchased him in advance. Although we paid about £800k to acquire him, it was a free. And we made a totally free transfer to bring in Todd Cantwell.
Beale has been discussing the reasons behind his failures and lamenting the departure of two important executives from the park, sporting director Ross Wilson and CEO Stewart Robertson. Along with seeing some players go, he also disclosed one player he wasn’t actually interested in selling.
Beale said, “The front six players, all the forwards, all left.” “Among those that departed, Fashion Sakala was the only one I truly didn’t want to go and had any control over; she performed incredibly well for me. “However, he received an offer to triple his salary, and the club received an offer to part with nearly £4 million for a player they signed for free. That was therefore annoying. It wasn’t like you were keeping anyone back because the other guys all wanted to go.
