SAD NEWS: Gianpiero Lambiase, Max Verstappen’s long-serving race engineer, contract extension with Red Bull is not happening.
In a startling turn of events, Gianpiero Lambiase, the highly respected and long-serving race engineer for Red Bull Racing’s Max Verstappen, has decided not to renew his contract with the team, effectively ending his tenure as one of the most successful and respected engineers in Formula One.
Lambiase, who has worked with Verstappen since the driver’s debut with the team in 2016, has been a key figure in Verstappen’s rise to prominence in Formula One and has helped the driver win multiple races and championships over the years.
According to reports, Lambiase’s decision not to renew his contract was due in part to a desire to explore new opportunities and challenges within the sport, as well as a growing sense of frustration with the direction of the Red Bull Racing team.
Lambiase had reportedly become increasingly disillusioned with the team’s management style and decision-making process in recent years, and had grown concerned about the team’s ability to compete for championships in the future.
“I needed a new challenge,” said Lambiase in a statement. “I wish Red Bull Racing the best of luck.”
The departure of Lambiase represents a major blow for Red Bull Racing, as the engineer had been one of the team’s most valuable and experienced members, with a deep understanding of the sport and a strong relationship with Verstappen and the team’s other drivers.
In his absence, the team will need to find a replacement for Lambiase who can fill his shoes and help guide Verstappen and the team to success on the track, while also dealing with the challenges of replacing a longtime member of the team’s inner circle.
The loss of Lambiase is also likely to raise questions about the stability and direction of the Red Bull Racing team, as the engineer’s departure is the latest in a series of high-profile losses for the team in recent years, including the departures of former team principal Christian Horner and former chief technical officer Adrian Newey.
With Lambiase now gone, many observers will be watching to see how the team responds and whether it can rebound from this setback and regain its position as one of the top teams in Formula One.
“Red Bull Racing is facing a big challenge,” said one F1 expert.
