“He’s not part of the team’s plans,” Gresini Team Principal Nadia Padovani Makes Aggressive Decision Regarding Marc Márquez’s Future.

In a surprising and bold move, Gresini Racing Team Principal Nadia Padovani has put an end to the speculation surrounding Marc Márquez’s potential future with the squad. In a recent statement, Padovani decisively remarked, “He’s not part of the team’s plans,” leaving little room for doubt about the team’s direction for the 2025 MotoGP season. The announcement follows months of rumors and conjecture linking the six-time MotoGP World Champion to Gresini’s satellite Ducati outfit as he seeks to revitalize his career.

The news comes as a shock to many MotoGP fans and insiders who believed that a move to Gresini could have provided Márquez a fresh start after several difficult seasons with Honda. Following a string of injuries and lackluster performances, the Spaniard has struggled to regain his former dominance. However, it appears that Padovani and the Gresini team have a different strategy in mind for the future.

Padovani’s decision to publicly close the door on Márquez signals a clear vision for the team’s future. “Our focus is on building a competitive and consistent squad with riders that fit into our long-term project,” she explained during a press conference. “While Márquez’s talent and history are undeniable, we have a specific direction we want to take, and he’s not part of that path.”

Padovani’s statement suggests that Gresini is prioritizing stability and rider development rather than relying on a marquee name who might bring short-term gains. Gresini’s current riders, Fabio Di Giannantonio and Alex Márquez (Marc’s brother), have shown signs of growth and consistency, fitting into the team’s ethos of cultivating talent and securing results through gradual improvement. This commitment to continuity appears to be a key factor behind the decision to rule out Márquez.

For Marc Márquez, this rejection adds another layer of uncertainty to his career. With the Gresini door firmly closed, his options for a potential move to Ducati machinery have dwindled. Pramac Racing, another Ducati satellite team, could still be in play, but no concrete offers have materialized. The factory Ducati team is already stacked with talent, including current World Champion Francesco Bagnaia and rising star Enea Bastianini, making a factory seat almost impossible.

Márquez is thus left in a precarious situation. Remaining with Honda seems increasingly untenable given their ongoing struggles to produce a competitive bike. Yet, without a clear offer from another top-tier team, his future in MotoGP remains uncertain. Will Márquez have to consider a mid-field team or even a potential sabbatical if no attractive seat emerges?

With Márquez out of the picture, Gresini will likely look to retain their current lineup or seek a younger, up-and-coming talent for the next season. The team has shown a preference for nurturing riders who can deliver consistent results rather than banking on high-profile stars. This approach has yielded mixed results but has kept Gresini competitive in the fiercely contested midfield battle.

As the MotoGP paddock reels from this news, one thing is clear: Gresini is focused on the future, and Marc Márquez is no longer part of that vision.
