CONFIRMED: Chicago Bears Ink Offensive Tackle Braxton Jones to Three-Year, $112 Million Extension — Making Him One of NFL’s Highest-Paid Linemen.
CHICAGO, IL — The Chicago Bears have locked down one of their most promising young stars, officially signing offensive tackle Braxton Jones to a blockbuster three-year contract extension worth $112 million, the team confirmed Tuesday morning. The deal, which includes $75 million guaranteed, instantly makes Jones one of the highest-paid offensive linemen in NFL history.
Jones, a fifth-round pick in the 2022 NFL Draft out of Southern Utah, has defied expectations since arriving in Chicago. After earning a starting job as a rookie, he quickly developed into a cornerstone on the Bears’ offensive line. His consistency, athleticism, and durability have made him a fan favorite and a key piece in protecting franchise quarterback Caleb Williams.
“This is a proud moment for me and my family,” Jones said in a statement released by the team. “Chicago took a chance on me, and I’ve worked every day to prove I belong here. I’m honored to keep building something special with this team.”
The extension signals the Bears’ commitment to solidifying their offensive front, especially after a season that saw major strides in the team’s offensive production under new head coach Shane Waldron. With Williams under center and Jones anchoring the left side, the Bears are betting big on stability and growth.
General Manager Ryan Poles praised Jones’ development and leadership.
“Braxton has become everything we hoped for and more — a leader on and off the field,” Poles said. “He embodies what we want in a Bear: toughness, intelligence, and work ethic. This extension is well-deserved.”
Jones’ deal averages out to just over $37 million per year, placing him in rare company among offensive tackles, and sets a new benchmark for linemen drafted outside the first two rounds.
The Bears now turn their attention to the upcoming NFL Draft, but with this move, they’ve already scored one of the biggest wins of the offseason.
