Cowboys DT’s extreme allergic reaction and its cause are disclosed.

Last week, Dallas Cowboys defensive tackle Mazi Smith faced some dairy and lost. Smith was a late scratch for the Las Vegas Raiders game last Saturday at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas, Nevada, his team’s second preseason game. The Cowboys left their offseason headquarters in Los Oxnard, California, without the 23-year-old on board.

The former Michigan player went back to practice on Monday and gave reporters a full account of what transpired. Smith clarified that “something in some milk” was the cause of the incident. Smith has a peanut allergy.

Smith revealed that he “started having a reaction right away” while travelling to Los Angeles International Airport on the Cowboys team bus. “I kind of went straight to the medical staff,” Smith remarked, as reported by Todd Archer of ESPN. “Told them what was happening and that I understood how they felt. I was aware of the situation. “I am familiar with what to do in the event of an allergic reaction. It’s best not to freak out right away, especially if it involves your radio. I want to make sure you’re receiving the proper care and are breathing.”

As the Cowboys’ other players boarded their flight on Friday, the second-year player was sent directly to the hospital. But three days later, he was back on the practice pitch. Smith anticipates playing a larger part in the upcoming season as the Cowboys’ new defensive coordinator. Smith finished 2023 with 17 games played (3 starts), 13 total tackles, and 1.0 sack.
