UNBELIEVABLE: The Saints surprisingly cut RB following his physical collapse.

Following his physical collapse, RB was cut by the Saints without warning.

With veteran quarterback Derek Carr taking over under centre and the team intent on winning the NFC South, the New Orleans Saints showed some promise during the 2023 NFL season. Regrettably, the Saints probably didn’t anticipate the Tampa Bay Buccaneers to bounce back from Tom Brady’s retirement so quickly, as they managed to stay competitive with veteran Baker Mayfield leading the way, ultimately winning the division instead.

With the modifications that were supposed to guarantee a postseason spot being secured during the 2023 campaign, the Saints’ narrow miss on the playoffs was probably a bitter pill to swallow. The Atlanta Falcons could become a formidable opponent in the NFC North after Kirk Cousins takes over as quarterback and the team makes other bold moves to get back on track. The Saints will face even more competition in their division going into the 2024 NFL season.

With the Buccaneers and Falcons projected to make more noise in 2024, the Saints can’t skip a beat, which makes their newest move shocking, as they let go of running back/kick returner Kene Nwangwu following a failed physical, according to Katherine Terrell of ESPN.

Nwangwu spent the first three seasons of his NFL career with the Minnesota Vikings before settling with the Saints, who now have placed him on waivers. New Orleans will aim to bounce back while taking another crack at making the playoffs, but how things pan out for Carr and company remains to be seen.
